Finding Nineveh

Finding Nineveh

The Inspiration for this message came while dealing with an insecurity. Though a baseless one, its impact occasionally attempts to linger once in a while. It is also a message meant to celebrate wins present and even those to come for you.

I took a detour to the vast and shiny world of Instagram, I wanted to make some updates to my account and also do a light exploring. While there, I discovered a dance video posted by a darling lady who I'd gone to high school with though I was 2 years ahead of her. Back then, I remember she was a part of a dance crew. She was quite good and watching her video today, I saw that she had honed that talent. While watching the video and seeing how  fluid her dance steps were, I felt really happy for her because she was doing, "Her thing."

A little while later, I went back to Whatsapp - as that's my preferred social media platform  and I saw that a dear friend, another high school classmate, just got his review published by the Lagos review. I was really impressed not just with the write up which was of course very insightful, he's quite a phenomenal writer, but more so with the fact that he too, like her, had discovered something he loved doing and honed it to the point that it became worthwhile.

Hey! Eyes up here, I'm heading somewhere with this.

Now, I also know of another lady, same high school too but she was a year ahead of me. She's into make up and related things like that. When I watched her YouTube video the first time, I was a little shocked but then I thought, "This is really nice." I mean the fact that she seemed to be doing something she enjoyed. I thought, "That's really great." I realized that these three people were pursuing their dreams and the funny part was that all these things I'm commending them for is not what I would say people, myself included expected of them. All three are bookish, nerdish and are all studying science related courses. It's expected that they should be somewhat of a nerd but instead they are all doing this bold artistic stuff which is a huge contrast to this science image I had of them. It's not just that they were doing something different but that they were really and unbelievably good at it. Realizing this, I felt this little cloud of doubt rear up it's ugly head trying to torment and for a minute or two, I questioned everything I'd ever discovered about myself.

This may be you or not but I know that sometimes it can feel lonely when it seems you're yet to figure out your place in the world. It can seem really scary too 'cause it seems like you have all this drive and heart but nowhere to put it. It can be scary when it seems you haven't found your niche yet. I remember not even trying so much at a lot of stuff because I was always so confused as to where I really belonged and what I was meant to do in this world. You wonder, "I'm I just here to cruise along or just 'flex life?'" When you go through Instagram, Facebook and even Twitter you're hit on every side by the achievements, no matter how small, of people you know who are doing something they love and making the most out of it. Then you wonder, "Where's my place in this world and what part do I get to play in it?"

I'm here to remind you that you were made for a purpose, you are not a mistake. You are here for a reason! Before you were formed, He knew you and before you came out of the womb, God ordained you for a purpose! It may seem like you don't know where you fit in just yet but regardless, I want you to remember that there's a place in this world for you and all you need to do is discover it. Remember the quote, "Man, know thyself." Well it's about time you took that quote seriously. It's time you begun the journey of self discovery.

Remember the story of Jonah in the Bible, the one who got swallowed by a fish. Nineveh was calling out to him but he refused to heed the call. He thought to follow the crowd and just keep on flexing life or cruise along. But you see, the call of Nineveh was way stronger. Eventually, he had to wake up to the realization that there's a place for him on the Earth and it's definitely not in the belly of a fish, lol. When he found Nineveh, I believe then he found purpose, he could finally channel all that drive and heart into Nineveh. I believe Nineveh was exactly where he was meant to be irrespective of the distractions, excuses or self-recriminations.

When doubts come like it did today, I remember that I've found my Niniveh, I'm exactly where I should be and doing exactly what I'm meant to. So I urge you today to discover your place in this world and run to it. Don't dally or delay, don't talk yourself out of it, just... Run!

Know your niche and abide there.

NINEVEH IS CALLING, FIND IT AND BIRTH PURPOSE!
